10th Annual Salsa Cinco de Mayo Celebration at Barnato History: Cinco de Mayo, or the Fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. Lets Make History as we honor Mexico Proud Hispanic Culture with Mariachi, Latin music and dance! Sunday 5 May 2024 Barnato will be celebrating La Raza Entera & donating its wooden dance floor to all things Cinco de Mayo with Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Kizomba, Zouk, Merengue, Punta, Cha-cha-cha, Pachanga, Guaguanco, and more.... To host & DJ the night, Barnato has chosen a long-time salsa event enthusiast & who Maven Social consider to be one of the most charismatic & talented salsa dancers in Omaha - a Mr. Blandon "Salserodalante" Joiner. Sunday will kick off with a fundamentally strong fun "Bachata Cool Moves" dance lesson for all levels of social dancers@7pm, again you don't need a partner. Alexis y Sus Caballeros start off the night with Traditional Mexican music in the purest form, dating back to at least the 18th century, evolving over time. Daniel Sedra D'mente, one of Omaha's most talened Mexican Artists will be doing Traditional Mexican Face Art for dancers who are interested, in honor of Cinco de Mayo. He will be doing a live painting session for our 10th Annual Salsa celebration that will be given to a lucky dancer who represents Sunday at our 10th Annual Cinco de mayo Celebration.
