🌴 Welcome to Our Beginner Intensive in Lambada! Have you ever been curious about Lambada? Now is your chance to step onto the dance floor and discover its joy, connection, and beautiful flow. In this intensive weekend course, we will guide you through the foundations of Lambada — from basic steps and turns to the characteristic body movements that give the dance its unique energy and playfulness. No previous experience is needed. This course is also the perfect preparation if you’d like to join our big event at the end of March with our special guest teachers Lydia & Matheus, who are coming to Stockholm. Lambada originated in Brazil, particularly in the northern state of Pará, during the late 1970s and 1980s. It grew from a mix of Brazilian rhythms and Caribbean influences such as merengue and carimbó. The dance became internationally famous in 1989 with the hit song Lambada by Kaoma. Today, Lambada is danced worldwide at festivals and congresses and has seen renewed popularity thanks to inspiring dance couples such as Ariel & Leticia, Sara & Otavio, Lydia & Matheus. Lambada can be enjoyed to both slower and faster music and is known for its smooth circular movements, fluidity, dynamic head movements (at more advanced levels), and an infectious sense of alegria — pure joy.
