2-Night Ecstatic Dance Campout

Hey friends, Aug 16th-18th, John Stuart, Marc Statz, Ash Guerrieri and Lark Gibson are very excited to host our first intimate weekend camping ecstatic dance retreat on a beautiful property in the Driftless region, graciously hosted by Lark Gibson of Radiant Spirit Retreats. The retreat begins with a ceremony, that will lead into a weekend consisting of 4 dances with varying styles, intensities and intentions. Our intention with this experience is to deepen our bonds with ourselves and with others with movement and music as our guide to live in integrity with ourselves. You may be thinking, 4 dances in two days? Yes. We’ll be having four 2-3 hour movement sets, with two dances in one day on Saturday. Ecstatic dance is not always intense, and you’re not always supposed to move. This is an opportunity to explore movement in a way that may cause introspection, personal growth and new ways of being not previously experienced before in a safe container held by two highly experienced facilitators, Marc and John. Ecstatic dance is a form of sober free-dance where we let go of our mind to get more into our body. We move to the rhythm and move freely to the music with no judgements of ourselves or of the others. The dance can be described as a form of movement meditation. You are welcome to feel and experience the full spectrum of human emotion and to express it on the dance floor while honoring others and the dance space. Ecstatic dance has been practiced throughout human history as a ceremonial way to commune in celebration. Young, old, short, tall, normal, weird, all genders and all races, everyone welcome and every dance move encouraged. 📍Location Radiant Spirit Retreats & Yoga Studio S7163 County Road G, Hillpoint, WI, United States 📃Schedule ☀️Friday 4:00PM - Setup Camp 6:00PM - Community Dinner (Meal not provided) 7:30PM - Opening ceremony and our first dance 10:00PM - dance ends and bonfire, chats and hangouts begin ☀️ Saturday 7:30AM - Breakfast 9:30AM - Opening ceremony begins - We place power item on altar space and set intentions Because some people may not be available to attend Fridays opening ceremony, we will create another opening on Saturday with everyone present 10:00AM - Morning movement and light dance 12:00-2:00PM - Lunch 2:00-5:00PM - Authentic Relating / Sound journey TBD 5:00-7:00PM - Dinner 7:00-10:00PM - Dance 10:00PM - Bonfire, community hang outs ☀️ Sunday 7:30AM - Breakfast 9:00-11:00AM - Chill morning movement and dance 11:00AM - Closing circle, closing ritual space 1:00PM - Packed up and on the road 🎒 What to Bring - Tent, hammock, general camping supplies - Re-usable plates and silverware for yourself - Food, snacks, drinks - We will provide light snacks, teas and refreshments but you are largely on your own for bringing your own food 🍇 FOOD ADD-ON Not interested in bringing much or any food at all? You can have 4 well-balanced, healthy, gluten-free vegetarian homecooked meals made by professional chef and co-owner of DelecTable, Lark Gibson, during the retreat. Meals are provided for Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday morning breakfast! We expect that everyone may be coming from all around, at different times and may want ample space to set up and ground in to the space. Please come when you can, don't worry about rushing in on Friday. This will be more of a flexible arrival day, with programming really getting started on Saturday morning. 🧠 Things to keep in mind We have a NO PAPER and NO PLASTIC policy for this event. We encourage mindful camping practices. We will have fresh water available as well as many varieties of tea and drinks throughout the weekend. We will be setting up a food lounge and altar space for us all to enjoy near the dance space. **Disclaimer** - We may take a few group shots of the whole group dancing with the intention to capture images that help us spread the word of ecstatic dance. Individuals and faces will not be shown. ☀️ Who are the hosts? Marc Statz is an artist with an obsession for making music, dancing and a love for creating beautifully profound experiences of joy and connection. He has been making music for the last 6 years and brings a fire for life to his experiences. Marc has learned ecstatic dance facilitation in Spain with Dance The Medicine, an international collective of established movement facilitators and DJs. John Stuart aka LoveAmplified is an accomplished sound alchemist as a DJ, producer/MC and Vibrational Medicine practitioner. For over 25 years, his dynamic style beckons the masses to partake with him on an alchemical journey through sound. To be in John’s presence is to experience his very special brand of mind-expanding, body-grooving & soul-soothing soundscapes, which he uses as a medium to amplify the spirit of personal expression, oneness, freedom & love. Lark Gibson has lead and hosted 11 yoga, wellness and dance retreats through her business Radiant Spirit Retreats since 2020 on her family's property of 25 acres in the Driftless Region. Lark is a 200 RYT yoga instructor who has been practicing yoga for more than 2 decades and has shared her passion and knowledge for the past 13 years via online and in-person classes in her yoga studio on-site. Lark and her husband Justin Gibson also own and run a restaurant based in Madison called DelecTable, which caters incredible seasonal, gluten-free, and vegetarian meals for all of her events.
