2023 CU Tango Music Festival

Here's what to expect: Tango for All 10 am English, 11 am Spanish Location: RegCakes Cost: FREE Join us for this 45-minute family friendly presentation about what makes tango music tango, how the bandoneon works, and how the music and the dance work together. Tango Music Workshop for Strings and Bass 1 pm Location: Community Center for the Arts Cost: FREE Are you a string player curious about tango music? This free workshop is for you! Open to all levels. Tango with Hernan Location: Urbana Dance Company Cost: $35/class Hernan Prieto will be teaching two tango dance classes 1:00-2:30pm: The Tight Space - Navigating a Crowded Dance Floor with Different Styles (intermediate/advance) 3:00-4:30pm: Tango Musicality - Where the Dance Meets the Music (all levels) Festival Concert 7 pm Location: Urbana Dance Company Cost: $20 This one hour long concert will feature various tango ensembles, including Arco y Aire (Max/Heyni), Las Almas (Heyni/Sumi), the newly formed sextet La Siembra Tango (guest artists with local tango musicians), and more. The music will range from Golden Age tango music to modern tango compositions. Festival Milonga 9 pm Location: Urbana Dance Company Cost: $20 The final milonga will be DJ'd by Hernan Prieto in addition to live music from our own tango orchestra Bandoneon Massacre along with our guest musicians.
