4th ANNUAL BACHATA COMPETITION

We are pleased to announce the 4th Annual Bachata Competition! Divisions: - Amateur Bachata Division: Each couple must be comprised of two amateur dancers that haven't danced in a pro/semi-pro team. -Pro-Am Bachata Division: This means that a professional/teacher will dance a choreographed routine with an amateur/student. Judges will focus on the amateur student not on the pro. Rules: - Competitors will compete in a 1.5 min minimum routine to a maximum of 2 min. - No Lifts. Tricks permitted but one foot must remain on the floor at all times. - 100% Bachata choreography. - A maximum of two songs may be mixed, both must be bachata. - Competitors must arrive no later than 9:00pm. Anyone late for any reason will be disqualified. - All competitors must pay cover at the door. - All competitors will have a 1 minute warm up before the official competition. - Couples in all divisions must register in advance no later than February 6, 2015 by e-mail at [email protected] There will be no last minute registration allowed. - Competitors shall supply their music by email at [email protected] no later than February 6, 2015. Judging Criteria: -Choreography: Originality and creativity -Timing and Rhythm: Precision, time and perseverance used to execute the dance. -Technique: Reflected through balance, placement and line. -Partnering: Lead and follow, unity between partners, couple interaction. -Appearance: This includes costumes, presentation and stage presence.
