$500 social dance competition

Bachata Rising will be hosting their first annual Bachata Social Dance Competition!!! $500 grand prize!! Winner takes all!! Got what it takes?? Here’s how it works: YOU and a partner sign up for one of the qualifiers below (there will be a 4 couple max/event). On the day of the event, each couple will select 2 #’s from a hat, each # corresponding to a song from the list below (1 Traditional & 1 Sensual per couple). The DJ, will play 45 sec of each song (Sensual first then Traditional). 1 winner will be chosen from each event, these winners will then advance to the finals to face each other. Only 1 couple will win it all, NO second place!!! Each couple will be judged on the following: Judge #1: Timing & Musicality - are they dancing according to the music, are they dancing Bachata? Judge #2: Creativity & Partner Connection - the couples interpretation of the music & execution of their lead / follow. Judge #3: Crowd applause - bring your squad because the couple with loudest cheers wins this part. Registration steps: 1️⃣ sign up online by selecting one of the event dates. Remember there’s a limit of 4 couples per event. 2️⃣ study the songs on the list below. Remember you’ll be dancing to one of each (Sensual / Tradition). 3️⃣ share the competition event via social media. A: $20 per person // $40 per couple (non-refundable) Q: Can I register more than once? A: Yes, however only once per night and a separate registration fee ($40) must be paid each time. Q: Can I register with multiple partners? A: Yes, however only once per night and a separate registration fee ($40) must be paid each time. Q: Do I need to bring my own partner? A: Yes Q: Can I change my competition date AFTER I register? A: No. Q: is admission to the event included with my registration fee? A: Only for the events held at Solas (Bachata Rosa qualifiers must pay admission) Q: Are tricks allowed? A: While there are no restrictions, remember this is a SOCIAL dancing competition - dance accordingly! Q: Do I have to be a professional to enter? A: No, this is an Amatuer / Semi-pro level competition. Professional Dance Artists are NOT allowed to compete. (Profession = those who make a majority of their income via dance) Q: Will I be switching partners? A: No, you compete with the partner you sign up.
