About this Event

I am delighted to be once again offering what is my favourite way of teaching the form. It's good to make sure we cover everything as you start a CI journey, alongside those doing the same. This is a structured series of classes, and you can expect to learn a comprehensive introduction to the path of Contact Improv through attending. You'll learn its physicality, culture and through a complimentary practice of Non Violent Communication (NVC) techniques of how to discuss it's emotional aspects as well. I expect this to give you a strong grounding in the form, with skills which would see you able to comfortably practice after the course. I am very delighted to be offering this work and I look forward to dancing with you. The course runs from 6 to 8pm every Friday, July 10th until August 14th. After 8pm we'll join with the community class until 8:30 for more dancing and socialising. We usually have dinner afterwards too nearby. ---------------------------------------- ABOUT THE FORM: Contact Improv (CI) is a study in relationship to others, and the dance is a chance to hone that with skill, movement and touch. With no set steps and no set leader, participants have the challenge and opportunity of practicing the widest possible range of dance moves, and to develop skills around presence, leading, following, fitness and flexibility. It's an utterly joyous practice, and if you'd like to have a fun experience which sparks great changes in your life, come along. ---------------------------------------- PLEASE NOTE: * Bring comfortable clothes to dance in. * It's best to avoid wearing jewellery as well as it can get in the way of the dance. * Learning CI is a very personal journey, and so whatever you need to feel comfortable in the space is welcome. So for example stepping out from certain exercises, choosing who you dance with or even simply watching for the whole time is all just fine. ---------------------------------------- ABOUT THE PRICING STRUCTURE: This event is run under the Not-For-Profit organisation Contact Culture, which is dedicated to spreading ‘Dance and Democracy’. It is offered with the ethic of not letting an aspiring attendee’s lack of money lead to a lack of dance. With that in mind, please pay what you can. The general admission is a normal price, with the varied price offered both for those who need financial support to attend, and for those who can hep offer that support. Please make your own decision about what is appropriate for you. If further assistance or questions arise, please contact me. The Ticket cost is: * $180 General Admission * Minimum $60 * Maximum $360 The supported and supporting options are available for anyone who believes they require some extra help in coming along, or can offer that help to others. If further assistance is required please get in touch. ---------------------------------------- ABOUT THE FACILITATOR, EAMONN O'FLAHERTY I have been dancing contact since 2010 and teaching since 2012.
