About this Event

A life lived dancing - the craft and legacy of two women and their generational journeys with CI. This weekend will mark a unique moment in time where eras of Sydney CI history converge, to inspire our body-mind into a curious reflective and responsive state, full of possibilities physically, mentally and visually.. Over the 4-days we inquiry and cultivate together an inquisitive approach in dancing CI. Discovering the thrilling intimate intelligence's on the move, the nature of our shared structures and the push and pull of a dynamic physicality whilst immersed in embodied historic threads these women bring. Join Kimberley and Lee-Anne in weaving a rich tapestry of a life lived dancing. We will begin with an evening of conversation questioning what makes a good dance? leading us into the weekends led sessions. Or you can have a little taste of the depth with attending a sweet evening of improvised performance, or for a boogie to live music at the Sunday Jam. ----- Bio: Kimberley McIntyre lives and works on Bungulung Country in Northern NSW. She first encountered CI in 1995 in Sydney and has continued to expand into this form with teachers and peers in Australia and OS, hosting events and workshops and initiating peer training retreats to support and enquire into the evolving practice that is Contact Improvisation. Over the last 7 years she has developed Curious Body - a methodology that cultivates a stamina of attention within the body and which explores composition and performance in Improvisation. Kimberley works as a movement consultant and collaborates with other independent artists to create original works of dance theatre for site specific projects and stage productions. Kimberley is currently on the organising team to bring ACIC back to life in 2023. Lee-Anne Litton is a dancer, teacher, choreographer, physical theatre performer and director. She has formal training in gymnastics (pre-Olympic level) and 15 years of experience in the performing arts industry.
