Abstraction - Contemporary Breaking Experience

This will be my first time "officially" teaching in Vegas, and I couldn't be more stoked! Deets: Location: Heather's Dance Life Time: 8-10pm Damage: $15 Dancers of all styles welcome Come As You Are Contemporary Breaking is nothing new: it can be seen on stages and in theaters all around the world but especially in European countries. I was incredibly inspired when I witnessed the contemporary and breaking worlds collide on my European travels: each has so much to offer the other. This workshop serves as a platform where I facilitate and guide contemporary dancers and bboys/bgirls in bringing elements (emotions, moves, tempo, etc) of the other style into their own dance. The purpose is twofold: to give insights into a new way of thinking about your dance (whether that is breaking or contemporary) using the lens of the other style, and also to serve as a bridge between dancers from each style and get them moving and sharing in the same room at the same time. ABSTRACTION: The purpose of this workshop is to give insights into new ways of thinking about your movement using the lenses of contemporary and breaking. As a dancer I focus on making the technical aspects of breaking accessible to other types of movers, and helping artists fit these techniques into the energy tempo and “presence” of their own movement. This particular class will focus mainly on shifting our minds (and therefore movement) away from the "literal" realm of events (cause and effect) and further into the world of ideas and conceptualizing from there.
