About this Event
Based on Curtis Seldon's pioneering of this Paris-based style, it took me years to figure out a system to learn leg passes and I'll be sharing that with you.
It's very technical, as you have to know leg combinations, as well as where you and your partner's weight is at all times.
Once you have the upright, straight-kneed posture, can lead 90% with your right hand, you can understand the shapes and cool leg pass moves that stem from semba dancing. You will feel like it's a puzzle to figure out which of her legs is free to pass or slide, hook, lift, or retract.
Ladies will learn not just posture, but how to style their arms, hands and head, and how to focus on the lead while maintaining her axis, with special focus on the touch step. Your torso has to remain pretty much between your 2 feet so you can easily use them at any given time. In traditional you transfer more weight and do more 100-0%, weight on your one foot at a time.
It is assumed you know foundation steps very well to do this. Otherwise it just doesn't make any logical sense. You're just gonna learn a few moves without being able to create your own variations.
This style suits engineer minds who love musicality and precision as opposed to the feeler who just lets themselves free flow and improvise. This is very disciplined and focused. Because it requires investment, you feel pretty confident when you nail these!
If you would like an intro to leg passes please check the Wednesday workshop schedule 7-9pm or keep coming to Sundays 5pm to gently ease into them.
