Discover the energy, rhythm, and powerful moves of Afro-Cuban dance in this exciting initiation series! 💃🔥 In this 10-class series, you will explore different dances from the rich Afro-Cuban culture. From the dynamic Yoruba dances like Elegguá and Changó, to the vibrant Congo dances like Palo and Makuta, you’ll dive deep into the roots of Cuban dance. 🗓️ Dates & Times: First class: Thursday, 26th September, 20h00 to 21h30 10 weekly classes of 1,5h until December 5th (no class on 31/10) 📍 Location: Heilig Hartinstituut Heverlee, Naamsesteenweg 355 💸 Price: €120 for the full 10-class series (due to the extended class length of 1.5 hours) 🔥 Note: on the same day, there will also be a Son Cubano class from 19h to 20h. You can combine both classes. Why Afro-Cuban Dance? Afro-Cuban movements are deeply rooted in the Yoruba religion, brought to Cuba by West Africans who continued to practice it after being enslaved. Each dance represents different orishas (spirits), symbolizing elements of the natural world, and is characterized by unique movements 🌿✨ These traditional Afro-Cuban dances have become a core part of Cuban culture and serve as inspiration for salsa dancers who often incorporate Afro-Cuban elements into their social dancing, adding flair and authenticity. This series will help you unlock new layers of expression in your salsa! 💥 About the Instructor: This series is led by Edel, a former member of the renowned Ballet Folklorico de Oriente in Cuba, bringing you an authentic and immersive Afro-Cuban experience. Who Can Join? This series is open to everyone, regardless of experience!
