This special edition featuring inter-state artists as part of Adelaide Sensual Weekend 🌟🌟 ON THE D-FLOOR 🌟🌟 Lam is a passionate and skilled teacher of many of the traditional styles of African Dance. He has more than 25 years of cumulative experience in Kizomba, Zouk, Semba, Soukous, Rumba, Ndombolo and African Tribal Dance, amongst others. He was previously engaged as lead choreographer and dancer for the African bands Vox Congo & Afro Bongo Dance. Originally from the Congo – Brazzaville (Central Africa), Lam has been passionate about dance and music from the time he learned to walk. The diversity of his styling was influenced by a move to Mozambique (South East Africa) during his early years, where he discovered Kizomba and Semba, two of his ongoing loves. Lam has been teaching predominantly in Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney, with high level engagement in festivals and workshops nationwide. Having loved dancing since she was young, Kylie experimented with a variety of styles in her early years. It wasn’t until she discovered the Cuban dance styles that she really connected. She started her training in 2011 with El Moro in Cuban Salsa, Rumba, Afro Cuban and Dominican Bachata; later travelling to Cuba to gain a better appreciation for the grass roots of the styles, the music, and the culture. Introduced to Kizomba in 2015 as its popularity spread across Australia, Kylie instantly related to the style. With an African cultural heritage that resonated with her background in the Cuban Dance styles; Kizomba and Semba fast became her new love. Her training was strengthened and finessed with exceptional teaching and mentorship provided by Lam. 🎶🎶 ON THE DECKS 🎶🎶 + Mutati DJ It’s about feeling the music. Listen to the beats of Kizomba while the walls shake to the vibrations of the percussion. From the heart of Africa,the Afro-lively-energetic ambiance adds colour to the air. Mutati mixes include all types of Latin music he reads the mood to determine what the people are eager for… When Mutati is playing your favourite tunes on the dance floor he will make you want to dance even when your feet say “Stop”! + DJ Careca Director and founder, Michael Hayter is a passionate Kizomba dancer and DJ. Michael is also the founder and head organiser of the AWAKE festival, Australasia’s biggest annual Kizomba festival, held each year right here in Perth. Michael began his Kizomba journey in early 2014 and has been hooked ever since. Not just a dancer and Kizomba teacher, Michael has also become a regular DJ at many Kizomba festivals, as well as local parties and events. Having danced overseas and being taught by some of the best instructors in the world, Michael looks forward to sharing his passion for Kizomba with you. ✌️✌️ THE ORGANISERS ✌️✌️ MUTATI, From Kenya to the world, mixing his Afro-fusion roots with a variety of dance genres, and passion, Mutati has his own distinct style of salsa, afro house, kizomba, semba, tarraxinha, mambo & bachata dancing. He loves sharing his experience enthusiastically with the world and he transmits positive vibes to dancers everywhere through his contagious smile. Kizomba Beats Adelaide is a Kizomba exclusive school based in Adelaide, South Australia. Our journey began in 2016 and our passion for the dance has taken them across the country, to Europe and back.
