About this Event

FREE and Open to the Public! Presentation, Performance & Workshop with ¡Pa’lante! in The Wing of the Johnson Museum. The Palante Afro-Caribbean Music & Dance Ensemble and Palante Salsa en Rueda Dance Troupe, in collaboration with the Johnson Museum of Art, bring you an evening of Afro-Cuban and Latin American art, music and dance. RHYTHMS: Rumba Cubana (Yambu and Guaguanco), Son Cubano, Son-Salsa with Rueda de Casino, Conga-Comparsa, Descarga Cubana, Yoruba Orisha songs and Punta from Honduras. Sonja Gandert, cocurator of “'This is no less curious': Journeys through the Collection,” will relate works from this exhibition to themes of Afro-Cuban and Latin music, dance and performance.
