AGUAS Carnaval- Latin Dance Workshop

Calling all Latin-dance passionate people. In the workshop, we will explore some basic steps to make a fun choreography to showcase on the big day. Bring along great energy, your best moves and comfy clothing to get that body active. This workshop is suitable for beginner dancers all the way through to experienced. Come along to celebrate water through folklore and urban rhythms with Latin Spring. Latin Spring is a non-for-profit Latin-American performing dance group that celebrates and promotes Latin-American Culture. Our members are Latin American people passionate about dance and cultural heritage who have left their home countries pursuing better opportunities and have found in Tasmania our new home. Founded in 2019, our group has been able to perform at several Latin American National Day celebrations around the Greater Hobart Area. Also, in some established Tasmanian festivals such as: Moonah Taste of the World Festival 2021, Dark Mofo 2021 and Diwali 2021. As part of the 'AGUAS Carnaval', this workshop will participant the showcase at MONA Lawns on the Sunday 6th February 2022. ABOUT 'AGUAS Carnaval' 'AGUAS Carnaval' is funded by ARTS Tasmania with the Cultural and Community Cultural Development (CACD) grant and support by MCOT Multicultural Council; Clarence City Council, Kingborough City Council and MONA. AGUAS (waters in Spanish) is a celebration of Water and Wetlands through art disciplines of Music, Dance and Muralism: the Latin Art Tripod. There are 8 workshops happening from 15 January to 5 February 2022 and a showcase of the workshops at MONA Lawns on the Sunday 6th February 2022.The artists group involved are Beat Latina (Dance), Salsita (Dance), Latin Spring (Dance), Ikigai (Dance), Arauco Libre (Music), Baba Bruja (Music), Sambin Tas (Music) and Sarah Wells (Muralism). This is a COVID Safe event, your safety is our priority. You must: Check in using the Check in TAS QR code before entering the event. Wear a face mask whilst in the indoor areas of the event when not eating or drinking. Children under 12 years of age and people with a medical exemption or contraindication are not required. You are strongly encouraged to wear a face mask in the outdoor area of the event when not eating or drinking. You must not enter if you are experiencing COVID-19 or flu like symptoms. If we are not able to run the event as planned due to COVID-19 all ticket holders will receive a full refund.
