Alex's Musicality Class at Bienvenida

Musicality means expressing, in our dancing, the details of our rich, gorgeous tango music. Musicality includes stepping on the beat, stepping in double-time and more complex rhythms, pausing, phrasing, various ways of dancing the melody, and dancing the feeling of the song. Two weeks ago I was visiting Portland, Oregon and the lovely tango community there, including taking a class that my dear friend, the great dancer and great teacher Alex Krebs happened to be teaching. It was a musicality class. This particular class being the third or fourth in a series Alex was teaching, he was focusing on dancing lyrically, as opposed to dancing rhythmically. I loved what he taught and how he taught it, and told him I was planning to steal it and bring it to y'all in New York. He said, great! We'll do a some of both rhythmic and lyrical dancing, with the emphasis on finding lyricism. 6:30-7:30 ~ Tango class on Lyrical Dancing 7:30-8:00 ~ Practice time 8:00-midnight ~ Bienvenida Milonga Host & DJ: Andrew $20 for EITHER class+practice OR milonga $30 for everything
