All Day Balboa Workshop with Mickey and Tise!

Hello SoCal! We are very excited to be back and bringing you the best of the best! Don't miss this rare opportunity to learn from these worldclass Balboa dancers and instructors Mickey Fortanasce and Tise Chao at an exclusive “All Day Balboa Workshop” on Saturday, June 1st, 11am - 6:00pm!! Mickey Fortanasce began swing dancing in Los Angeles in 1999, and is known as the superhero of the planet Balboa. He has been dancing, teaching, and competing all over the world with different dance partners for many years. During this time his innovation and showmanship coupled with his love of both dance history and theory have led him to become an internationally recognized Balboa teacher and competitor. Tise Chao started swing dancing in Southern California in 1997, learning first hand from local original swing dance legends Anne Mills, Hal Takier, and Bart Bartolo, as one of the “Old School” kids. She has danced, competed, and taught since then, and continues to mentor and support the next generation of dancers. Tise is dedicated to preserving yet innovating the dance, with Balboa being one of her favorite dances from the original swing era, she hopes to inspire other dancers to find their joy in Balboa. Together, Tise and Mickey will be teaching a mix of Pure Balboa and Bal-Swing technique and movements, and in this workshop we will focus on All Levels classes, so students from Beginning to Advance levels can join in together. Our mission is to work on elevating the level of SoCal Balboa dancers and beyond! Class Schedule: (These are 50 min. classes each) 11:00am - All Levels: Pure Bal ~ Foundation & Shuffles 12:00pm - All Levels: Bal-Swing ~ Open Variations 1pm - 3pm - Lunch Break (on your own) 3:00pm - All Levels: Technique, movements, and beyond 4:00pm - All Levels: The Mickey Special ~ Slow Bal 5:00pm - Int/Adv: Level Up ~ Musicality and Show! Fees: $80 for the entire workshop (5 classes). $20 for drop-in per class. Cash or checks only (made to Tise Chao). Please arrive to class 20 min. early to sign in and pay.
