About the Instructors Berna began her tango journey in Istanbul, Turkey, and brings decades of experience as a dancer and teacher. She has collaborated with many professional dancers, taught at Istanbul’s first Argentine Tango school, El Encuentro, and helped co-organize the International Istanbul Tango Festival. She has taught and performed across Turkey and the United States, focusing on helping students develop solid technique tailored to their body mechanics while cultivating their own style. As a certified Pilates instructor, she uses her expertise to improve movement patterns and build a strong foundation for both technique and musicality. Michael Thomas, an Argentine native, has been dancing since childhood. He is a four-time official USA Tango Champion in both Tango de Pista and Stage categories and has represented the United States at the World Tango Championships. His passion and expertise greatly enhance their partnership. Since 2024, Berna and Michael have been teaching and performing together. They offer group and private lessons, choreography, workshops, and performances for shows, events, and film and TV. They also teach weekly classes in Irvine and support dancers with competition preparation and custom choreography.
