About this Event

APRIL, 23RD @ Mercury Cafe Denver - 2pm to 4pm Interactive Lecture: "Anatomy in Clay" by Greg Gonzales & Amy Anderson (using material originating from the "Formative Haptic Center") Special Workshop: KEY MUSCLES OF THE FOOT AND ANKLE The Anatomy In Clay® Learning System is an exclusive hands-on approach that has led the way in innovative anatomy education for more than thirty years. Participants will re-create the functioning parts of the foot and ankle (Muscles, Tendons & Ligaments) that are most commonly related to dancing Tango. It will be done by the application of colored clay to a detailed, realistic plastic model of the bone structure. Building in this way is an active learning process that is both engaging and informative. The muscles and tendons that create the "stirrup effect" of the foot and those that help propel the body on the ground are often injured through overuse or specific trauma. Understanding this anatomy is beneficial for anyone wants to get more enjoyment and satisfaction from their activities. To realize how the muscles and tendons of the foot and ankle are utilized in any weight-bearing exercise (LIKE TANGO!) helps us to appreciate the hard work they do and enforces the need for knowledge about their care. @ the Mercury Café 2199 California St. Price: $45 (it includes one "Body Conditioning for Dancers" workshop, by Amy Anderson!)
