BERLIN WORKSHOP & JAM MARCH 9 -10 Animal flow into a mix of Contact Improvisation, Tango and more. In animal movement we can admire the flow of energy within the body and through the space. An obstacle seems to become a possibility. How do they do it?. What’s their bio mechanical relation with gravity? How do they cope with stress both physical and emotional? These questions may help us to focus and experiment with some tools: spirals, chain of reaction, momentum, elasticity, tension-relaxation relation, and also with our own sensory motor amnesia. We will also play creatively, embodying movement elements of nature: water, air, animals, etc. We will dance alone, in couples, trios and in group creating a musical complicity with our partners where comunion and difference can emerge. We will apply all of these to a free mix of contact and tango. Mixing movement languages gives us the possibility to play with a variety of tools and spaces without getting limited by any. The mix of all of the above can allow us to create our own spontaneous expression. We would like the spirit of the dance to emanate through our movement, accepting limits as possibilities. FOR WHOM: This workshop is open to people of all ages and experiences interested in movement creation as a path of knowledge, healing, communication and personal enrichment. This open combination, boundless of a given style, developed in a playful environment, results in freedom of movement. It provides the possibility to deepen the understanding of ourselves and our physical relation with society and Nature. DATE & TIME SCHEDULE: WORKSHOP: Saturday 9th March: 11 - 18.30hrs Sunday 10th March: 10.30 - 14.45hrs Suggested Contribution: Sliding scale 95E - 120E before 2nd March. After 105E - 130E. Discount for full time students & unemployed. There is a possibility to attend only Saturday or Sunday. JAM MIX: Saturday 9th March: 19.15-22.15hrs. Javier Cura is a teacher, visual artist, theatre director and movement coach who has worked extensively in the realms of movement, dance and theatre. He has been invited to teach and perform at Fabrik Potsdam Tanztage, Goettingen Contact Impro Festival and Phantastango, Farma Dance Theatre Festival and Alchemie Tango in Prague, C.I.R.A in Strasbourg, as well as to CI Festival San Francisco (USA). He has dedicated himself to researches in anthropological and sociological themes to develop projects in social theatre in Italy, Morocco and Germany. He has collaborated on a research on expression in Contact Improvisation at the Berlin Free University. He has worked as movement advisor for Sickle Cell patients in London Royal Hospital. Through a mix of disciplines that nourish movement diversity, body awareness, consensual touch and creativity, he has created The Ecological Body, with the intention to reconnect with oneself, other beings and the Earth, in an emotional, physical and spiritual way. He defines himself as a movement activist.
