======================= Asia Bachata Jack & Jill Championship 2017 'Open Category' ======================= Since the inception of SBW 2016, the Jack and Jills (J&J) has been a sensational hit and we definitely want to repeat it this year! After a very successful debut in 2016, we are excited to announce the 2nd edition of the Asia Bachata Jack & Jill Championship happening at The Singapore Bachata Weekend on the 21 MAY 2017. This year we have also moved the J&J Championship to the LAST day of SBW (Sunday) as we would like to give the opportunity for all SBW participants to learn as much as they can during the weekend and apply what they've learnt at the J&J itself. As they say, if you don't use it, you'll lose it, so apply it on Sunday 21 May 2017! ============================ About the Jack and Jill Championship ============================ It will be an open category and hence everyone can participate. The top 3 couples will walk away with trophies/medals and exciting prizes!! Check out the details below for further information and registration. Jack & Jill (or Dance with a Stranger) Competition is a format of competition in partner dancing, where the competing couples are the result of random matching of leaders & followers. The Jack & Jill is a measure of your social dance ability. The raw ability to take a random partner and a random song and make something magical out of it. With the J&J competition, we hope to challenge dancers to get a new special dancing experience and to focus on connection, creativity, harmony and musicality. ° Format of the Competition J&J contest will have 2 rounds. There will be a 1st round with all competitors. In this round participants will be rotated 3-4 times dancing to a different partner and song each time. In the final round, 8-10 couples will be selected. In this round couples will be dancing 'spotlight' whereby each randomly paired couple will be having the whole dance floor to themselves. Please note that ALL our competitions are GENDER NEUTRAL! You can lead or follow! ° Music Music for each dance is selected without the participants' prior knowledge. Each song will last for 1.5-2 minutes ° Judging Criteria Participants will be judged individually in the 1st round, not as couples. The dancers who will be selected for the final will then be judged as a couple. One of the key elements of a J&J contest is the element of improvisation. Try to dance in harmony with your new partner, while dancing to the specific characteristics of a random song or "express musicality". All participants will be judged based on the following criteria: 1) Technique 2) Timing and Rhythm 3) Showmanship and Musicality 4) Partnering and Chemistry 5) Creativity & Entertainment value ° The Judges The judges will be our Artistes for SBW 2017! ° How to sign up Participants must have a minimum Full Party Pass or Full Event Pass to participate at the competition.
