Game of Steals – Contest Rules and Structure What: • It’s a contest focusing on dance steals! Contest Details: • Entries o Contest is limited to 16 entries o Call backs will be for the top 8 teams • Cost o $20 payable at the time of the contest • Times: o Prelims on Friday night at 10:00 pm (after opening ceremony) o Finals on Saturday at 3:30 pm (after the All-Star J&J) Contest Format: • Song length o Songs will be at least 2 minutes long • Prelims/Finals o Prelims will be heated with multiple songs per heat. o Finals will be bracket/battle style • Flow of the contest o All four team mates will be on the floor at the same time o One leader and one follower will be dancing (active) o One leader and one follower will be planning their steal Contest Rules: • Team o Four people per team o No more than two people can be Advanced/All-Star o Must have two leaders and two followers o Preference is to stick with traditional gender roles • Stealing o There must be at last 3 leader steals and 3 follower steals per song o We encourage you to steal more frequently • Criteria and concepts the judges are being asked to look at: o Content – we want it to be west coast swing o Continuity – steal the partner without interrupting the dance o Creativity – make your steals creative Here is the sign up link: http://goo.gl/forms/MffDTvfDCP
