Authentic Kizomba and Dominican Bachata with Rodchata

Come join Rodchata from San Francisco, California as he is going to teach an Introductory course on Authentic Kizomba and Dominican Bachata. WHEN: Thursday, June 11th WHERE: ST 128 - Science Theatres U of C Campus COST: $25 per Workshop OR $40 for Both Workshops TIME: 7:00 - 8:00 pm - Authentic Kizomba 8:00 - 9:00 pm - Classical Dominican Bachata - Primer (Level 1) AUTHENTIC KIZOMBA (Level 1) Want to dance like the Top locals? First, dance like the real locals! No experience is necessary. Learn to execute the movements naturally and sensually! Rodney was sponsored by the Angolan Embassy to teach Kizomba (as danced by Angolans) in Korea. After he left, the population of Korea increased--at least in the Salsa scene! Learn the sensual subtlety of the original form of Kizomba, which again, just as Dominican Bachata, compliment some of the more modern and choreographically more complex and modern forms of Kizomba. The focus of this class is to be as natural as possible and to focus on connection before jumping to Argentine-based Tango movements that has influenced Kizomba movements in order for it to make sense as the music creates a difference in a way this fusion dance is executed in so many ways. CLASSICAL DOMINICAN BACHATA (Level 1) If you think you know the original Bachata as danced in the Dominican Republic (where it originated), we think you'll be in for a bit of a surprise just as those who attended these workshops in the past. The movements can be sensual or "relative" friendly as you don't want to always dancing close to someone you are related to! Learning proper fundamentals in Dominican Bachata will enhance any modern or fusion Bachata steps as it grounds its movement to its roots and the same time does not limit the dancer to create improvisations within his dancing. Anything from what to do and not what not to do when it comes to footwork, hip action, frame, hand hold, etc. will be covered without mercy. Oh yes, also be prepared for a bit of a history lesson along the way!
