We have put together 5 hours of Bachata musicality immersion led by Chad and Monica. This workshop will only be hosted once in Edmonton this year, so donโ€™t miss out ;) Weโ€™ll be visiting all major styles of Bachata from its traditional roots to how the style has progressed to more modern styles. While we encourage everyone to develop their own unique musical expression, weโ€™ll be also visiting more traditional ways to maintain a spirit of heritage. ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ดTอŸrอŸaอŸdอŸiอŸtอŸiอŸoอŸnอŸaอŸlอŸ อŸBอŸaอŸcอŸhอŸaอŸtอŸaอŸ Influenced by Iberian, African, and Native American cultures. Bachata is a traditional genre of music & dance originating from the Dominican Republic, developed during a time of government and media censorship. Bachata once disparaged for its association with the โ€œunsophisticatedโ€, is now a Nostalgic keepsake for many Latin cultures. ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ดMอŸoอŸdอŸeอŸrอŸnอŸ อŸBอŸaอŸcอŸhอŸaอŸtอŸaอŸ As Dominican people migrated outside the Dominican Republic, the opportunity for Bachataโ€™s commercialization would take the genre to new heights. Combining rhythmic elements of Bachata music with elements of Western music, Fusion genres would arise. Modern Bachata Dancing is influenced by elements in Salsa, ballroom, and tango. ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธSอŸeอŸnอŸsอŸuอŸaอŸlอŸ อŸBอŸaอŸcอŸhอŸaอŸtอŸaอŸ A fusion style developed in Spain with an increasing cult following outside the Dominican Republic, this style focuses on body waves and isolations similar to Brazilian Zouk. Sensual Bachata dancing is often done with both Modern Bachata music and non-Bachata music that a DJ or producer remixed to include elements and instruments specific to Bachata music, such as the bongo drum. --------------------------------------------------------- ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—น๐—ฒ ๐Ÿ—“ ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜†, ๐—™๐—ฒ๐—ฏ๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿญ, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฏ (๐ฟ๐‘œ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘œ๐‘› ๐‘ค๐‘–๐‘™๐‘™ ๐‘๐‘’ ๐‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘œ๐‘ฃ๐‘–๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘‘ ๐‘Ž๐‘“๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘Ÿ ๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘”๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘œ๐‘› ๐‘–๐‘  ๐‘๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘“๐‘–๐‘Ÿ๐‘š๐‘’๐‘‘) 12:30 - 1 pm โ€ข Men and Womenโ€™s styling 1 - 2 pm โ€ข Dancing with Rhythm and texture 2 - 3 pm โ€ข Dancing with Dynamics and Form - ๐˜‰๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฌ - 3:30 - 4 pm โ€ข Men and Womenโ€™s styling 4 - 5 pm โ€ข Dancing with Melody and Timbre 5 - 5:30 pm โ€ข Practice and Questions ๐Ÿ’ต Investment is $120 (No refunds 48 hours prior to workshop) This includes the social later on that night too! 10% of this workshopโ€™s Revenue will go towards Dominican children having free music instruction for their traditional music. --------------------------------------------------------- โ—Prerequisites to ensure a fun learning experience for everyoneโ— ๐Ÿ’ฌ We wonโ€™t have room for walk-ins, DM us to register! ๐Ÿ’ƒ Please help us keep ratios even and register with a partner! ๐Ÿ•บ This is not a beginner class.
