About this Event
Have you ever wanted to try bachata?
Or maybe you’re looking for a new hobby that actually feels exciting, social, and a little bit addictive?
Perhaps you've already caught the bug and been dancing bachata a while now?
Whether you're a current dancer or yet to get started, we'd love to welcome you to our weekly Wednesday classes ✨
What is bachata?
We cheekily refer to bachata as salsa’s sexier cousin.
It’s a Latin partner dance that originated in the Dominican Republic, and has since evolved with influences from Spain and other parts of the world.
Bachata is a partnered social dance, meaning one person dances as the 'leader' and the other the 'follower,' co-creating the dance through your shared understanding of connection, musicality, and technique.
Please note: no partner is needed to attend our classes. Everyone rotates partners throughout the class
What to expect
Each class runs for 60 minutes and includes:
• A simple, guided warm-up
• Clear, beginner-friendly instruction
• Plenty of time to practice and actually dance
By the end of your first class, you’ll be dancing.
And if you already have some experience, you’ll be able to refine your style, musicality, and body movement.
Class times:
Beginners: 6:30-7:30pm
Beginner-intermediate: 7:30-8:30pm
We encourage everyone attending Bachata Collective for the first time to try both classes (regardless of your level) to get a feel for the level, flow and progression of the class, though the choice is totally yours.
Remember, you do not need to bring your own partner
Come as you are, with your friends, or with that someone special. Either way, you’ll get to dance with a number of other people ready and eager to learn just like you.

We have relocated to The Move Room for term 3!!!
If you have never been to The Move Room, it's only 8 minutes drive from our previous location (Ritual Yoga & Pilates)
The Move Room is situated in an industrial area of Currumbin with plenty of on-site and street parking. When attending for the first time, please allow extra time to find it. It's located at the same address as Currumbin Academy of Performing Arts. When you arrive, there will be an a-frame sign out the front of the door.
