Bachata weekend with Rodolfo Montaño in Vancouver!

Cultural ambassador, Bachata Master and Champion Rodolfo Montaño visits Vancouver for the very first time, all the way from the Dominican Republic! Seize this amazing opportunity to immerse yourself in an exciting 2-day workshop series where we will explore the broad spectrum of this beautiful dance from the Caribbean. This is to avoid having a very unbalanced class. That being said, given the characteristics of leading and following in Bachata, where leading does not necessarily require a completely different footwork (as in Salsa), we do encourage same sex/gender pairs to join the workshop. The idea is that one of the two will play a more leading role, but both will learn roughly the same in terms of footwork, etc. The $100 price tag is for for two people. About Rodolfo Montaño: Rodolfo Montaño has been dancing since he was a child, and teaching for the past 20 years, specializing in the rhythms of his native Dominican Republic. On two occasions he’s been crowned as national champion in Bachata competitions. Very much sought-after in the Caribbean for his talent, Rodolfo has featured in concerts, live performances, movies, documentaries and big events that have featured the likes of Aventura, El Canario, Luis Díaz, etc. It’s very important to point out that Rodolfo Montaño’s dancing features in important cultural and anthropological works undertaken to document Dominican traditions, most notably the book “Bachata Ompló”, a profound research on the origins of the music and the dance. This book belongs as well in the Dominican Republic’s national archive as a reference for Bachata. Rodolfo appearance in it represents a huge honour and local recognition as a true ambassador of Dominican culture.
