Kathy Reyes and Ashkenaz Presents: BACHATANightz Berkeley Edition 1ST ANNUAL PRO/AM BACHATA COMPETITION 2017 - Qualifier MAY 4th - Finals JUNE 1st WINNER TAKES ALL, $ 1,000 in Cash and prizes. $500.00 cash 1 Full pass to LASBF 1 Full pass to SFIBF 2 Pairs of Gfranco 2 Trophies ************************************************************************ *** Bachata Lesson 8:30pm with Kathy Reyes *** COMPETITION Starts at 11:15pm *** Dancing till 1:30am with DJMIGZ *** Beer, Wine and Snacks available for purchase. *** Cover $10 and $8 with Student ID ( Bring Cash) ************************************************************************ PRO/AM BACHATA COMPETITION RULES AND CRITERIA RULES: - Bay area competitors will need to qualify May 4th. - Out of town competitors will qualify the day of Finals. - Pro is able to participate with 2 different amateur competitors. - Minimum of 4 couples are required in the division for the prize money to be validated and rewarded. - Music and Routine must be 80% Bachata . - Each couple will perform a routine no less than 1:45 and no longer than 2:15 minutes. A penalty of 3 points of the final score will be deducted if competitors fail to meet music requirement. - Maximum of 2 songs can be mix into your routine. Song must be edited to end where you choose - Competitors must provide competition music on USB no later than 4pm day of event. If you are unsure of your music, please contact organizer to avoid a disqualification. - Maximum of 3 lifts allowed. A penalty of 3 points deduction per every lift over the maximum requirement. - NO PROPS ALLOWED. - NO JEANS. We are trying to keep this competition as professional possible. JUDGING CRITERIA - 10% Overall Appearance - Confidence, Costume, hair and makeup. - 10% Choreography- Creativity, originality. - 15% Difficulty- Intricacy of movements, flexibility, strength and execution. - 20% Technique- Proper execution of moves, balance, placement and posture. - 15% Musicality- Ability to interpret the musical instruments. - 15% Connection- Unity and synchronization between the couple. - 15% Timing- Keeping up with the beat. DEFINITIONS - Pro/Am: Professional has been paid to teach or perform, Amateur is considered to be a student. - LIFT: A lift is when one person has two feet off the floor at the same time with the assistance or support of their partner -PROP: A prop is defined as any item that is not part of costume worn by dancer.
