Come back to zouk! I mean, if you're ready. We know everyone has a different tolerance and ability for in-person dance right now, everyone has been affected by covid in a personal way. With all of this in mind, we are offering an intimate all-Zouk weekender featuring the fabulous and highly technical teachings of Shani Mayer. Our greatest priorities for this weekender are: - To come back to in-person zouk with key safety controls in place (will be detailed shortly) - To provide high-level instruction in Brazilian Zouk technique...something I know many of us are craving! - To offer workshops that delve into the emotional aspect of the loss of your hobby and community for the past 18 months - To provide a sliding scale cost with an option for free admission with volunteer opportunities to those who have been financially impacted by covid. We couldn't be giddier with excitement about the potential of dancing with real live humans again! But are exercising great care and caution to minimize any risks of spreading covid. Cost is pay what you can between $55-$85 for the full weekend. Venmo Shani-mayer to reserve your spot Event hours: - Saturday, May 22nd: begins with a 30 minute opening ceremony to explore the impact of a no-zouk year, followed by 3 hours of classes, and night PARTY! - Sunday May 23rd: 2 hours of classes and day time practica 1:30pm and 2:30pm classes, practica from 3:30 to 4:30pm - Sunday after party hosted by Zouk Open Air in Long Beach, CA Note: By submitting payment to this event you are agreeing that you will follow the LA County Orange Tier private indoor events code which states *you will provide proof of vaccination or a negative covid test in the 3 days prior to the event (May 19th to 22nd) by 9am on May 22nd.* If you are vaccinated but have not completed the full post-dose waiting period, you must provide a negative covid test. If your test is positive or if you fail to provide a covid test, entrance will not be allowed and a refund will be sent to you within 30 days. Masks during classes will be required. Socials the mask is optional. This allows for those who are only comfortable with masks to attend the event for classes only.
