About this Event

Building on the last ‘Flow’-themed 102 block, Alan and Razz will be introducing new rhythmical and shape concepts. No need to have joined the previous block — being comfortable with the listed prerequisites is enough to follow along. The workshop is divided into a Balboa section and a Swing section, covering the following topics: Module I - Rhythms & Phrasing in your Balboa: We will add new rhythmical patterns to your Balboa basics and experiment with how you can use them to match the music Prerequisites: Comfortable transitioning between downhold and uphold patterns, you regularly introduce simple rhythmic variations (e.g. extending shuffles and holds in your basics). Module II - Beyond the Throwout In this class, we will build on your fundamental throwouts and longarm throwout technique to lead up to less conventional reconnects & redirects. Prerequisite: You are experienced with circular out-and-ins, throwouts, and long-arm throwouts. Open Practice Session In this practice session, you’ll have the chance to recap the class material with fellow dancers. Razz and Alan will be around to answer any open questions! DJ'd Social The workshop concludes with two hours of hot jazz for you to dance and connect socially! The social is included in your workshop ticket, but it’s also open to the public (£5 on the door).
