BAMBOO Immersion @Finca Morpho

In this 7 day immersion, you will have the chance to learn in depth about bamboo construction. This involves the whole process from harvesting and curing, to studying different techniques and construction methods. As part of the retreat you will each get a real chance to practice hands on the bamboo, take actual practice home with you and learn how to built a structure from scratch and see it become reality right before your eye! A part of the workshop will be focused on building an Octagon Structure showing you how to apply the techniques learned in the days before. During the weeklong event you will work in small to big groups to maximize practice and learning time. In addition to the Bamboo immersion you get the chance to learn about co-living harmoniously in the heart of Finca Morpho nomadic community. You will get a chance to practice basic relating techniques, exchange your experience in small groups and have bonding activities with the whole group such as check-in circles, cacao ceremony and Ecstatic Dance! Connect deeply with the ones around you and experience more then just a workshop, come experience a whole lifestyle! Schedule: Arrival (12.01): Orientation, welcoming and sync up (includes dinner). Day 1 : Walk and talk "Bamboo Culture" getting to know species selection, clump management, harvest/treatment demonstrations and discussing little known facts about bamboo. Day 2: Tools safety instruction + practice using bamboo tools. Everyone get to practice by making their own bowl/plate/utensils to use for the duration of the course. Then we go over the activities for the following day which will be layout and foundation details of the structure using the model as an example. Day 3 to 9 From day 3 to the end we will explore the different phases of the build as scaffold, columns, joist prep, reciprocal roof assembly, making esterilla and bench assemblies (with backrests) etc. We will hold intentional circles for opening and closing the immersion as well as offer a dynamical closing ceremony with cacao and ECSTATIC DANCE.
