Bandoneon OPEN DAY

BANDONEON OPEN DAY AUSTRALIA 1st Bandoneon Open Day in Australia at the Ainslie Arts Centre, ACT. The first Bandoneon open day will take place in the Ainslie Arts Centre. The event will run from 2pm to 5 pm and is a chance for students to learn about and experience playing this magical instrument, most famous for the distinctive sound it lends to tango music. The director is Rodolfo Caivano, an Argentinian-Australian Bandoneon player who studied with Argentina’s finest bandoneons players. Rodolfo has many years’ experience playing in traditional tango orchestras and ensemble, and is currently teaching bandoneon to students, as well as organising the Orchestra School of Tango in Canberra. Students of all levels are welcome. It will be a fun, relaxed, and hands-on day, where the emphasis is on trying new things and absorbing some of the culture of Argentinian tango music. Students will be split into two groups. The time table is as follows: Opening 2pm to 2:30pm: Welcome words, brief explanation of the instrument, the history, and the role of the bandoneon in Tango music. Interpretation of representative songs in the Bandoneon. 1st first group, beginners, 2:30 - 3:45pm. (Limited to 5 spots.) 2:30pm to 3:15pm (45 min) Individual practice with Tutor. 3:15pm to 3:45pm (15 min) Section practice. 2nd second group, Advanced 3:45 up to 5:00 pm. (Limited to 5 spots.) 3:45 pm up to 4:30pm (45 min) individual practice with tutor. 4:30 pm up to 5:00 pm (15 min) Section Practice Email for registration, [email protected] About the groups. 1 first group classification, People with no musical experience 2 second group classification, People with musical experience About the tutor: The tutor will accompany the students with their exploration of the bandoneon. They will tell them the properly posture of body, proper use of fingers, and use of the air valve. The tutor will speak encourage students to connect with the instrument. About the individual practice: The students will take one bandoneon with a tutor and will go to a rehearsal room to learn about the instrument and the keyboard. They will rehearse a piece that will later be played in the chorius. About the section practice: All the students will return to main room, where they will play with all the rest of the students the piece they practice in the individual space. The director will help them to work in the dynamic, slide note phrasing, etc. Applications: All are welcome to participate. We particularly encourage younger musicians to apply and anybody with a passion for tango music. Grants: Students can apply for a grant for 3 free lesson and a Bandoneon instrument for 3 Months.
