Every 1st Friday, join us at the Liaison Room, where we throw down top notch house, bass and dance music on the club’s custom Funktion-One sound system. This room was specifically designed for maximum sound output with warm lows and equalized high-end output. Each month we showcase different Bangarang Residents along with a special guest DJ. We also feature different visual artists with custom pieces available for purchase. We still love to dress up and wear costumes, and while there is no theme for this event, we highly encourage you to dress up in your funkiest, fanciest, most fabulous, most YOU attire, whatever you feel like....or just come as you are! Come support your local artists, and enjoy the low, sweet warmth of bass, while sipping on a drink and catching up -- for old time’s sake! Guest DJ: 33° 33 has been DJing for over a decade under varying names. From playing hip-hop in some of Buffalo’s best dance bars to driving Techno in the Philadelphia underground, he has an appreciation for all genres and styles of music. Since moving to Philadelphia in 2016, 33 has enjoyed getting to know the local scene, playing and partying with as many of the local crews as possible. To date, 33 has been fortunate enough to play local jawns such as Rumor, The Saint, Liaison Room, Raven Lounge, and Club 714, as well as various parties. Not taking himself too seriously, 33’s only goal is to project his passion for music onto the dance floor and to get people moving and smiling. Life’s short, Let’s party! https://soundcloud.com/user-113693954 Bangarang: Deep C Chris Clark, better known as Deep C worldwide, started his love affair with music in 1979 at only 7 years old. It took Deep on a path to producing several timeless gems with the Wamdue Kids, and Tigerhook Corporation, and around the globe holding residencies and guest spots at the best clubs and festivals in the world, garnering a reputation as a djs, dj. His illustrious DJ career started in 1990 in Detroit, where deep grew up getting influenced by the Electricfying Mojo, The Belleville 3, & Jeff Mills aka The Wizard. Later moving to Atlanta in '93 where he would go on to meet co-founders of the Wamdue Kids, Chris Brann and Chris Udoh and cement an incredible artistic relationship. Wamdue, went on to produce around 100 releases on many legendary and underground labels such as Strictly Rhythm, Naked Music, Studio K7, Guidance Records, Communique, Acacia Records and many more. As a member of Tigerhook, Deep continued with releases on well respected labels Hooj Choons, The End Recordings, Bedrock, & Shaboom and held down national and international residencies at prestigious clubs Fabric (UK), Smart Bar (Chicago), KGB-Mission (Miami), Tresor (Berlin), & The Viper Room (Los Angeles) while also working at then one of the greatest record shops in the world Satellite Records in NY. After some time off of music production to raise a family, Deep C was steady busy holding events in Philadelphia as Roc Philly (Avi David Partner), Adults At Play, & with a Burning Man Art Collective Bangarang, which he is still very active to this day. The future of Deep C in music is he is setting his sights on production once more and owns his new label Bodega Soundworks, which coincides with Philadelphia's newest venue Bodega, where Deep C is the Entertainment Director. He's host of the radio show the Keepers Of The Deep which is a 3hr long journey through the deep sounds of Electronic Music, Techno, & House. https://www.mixcloud.com/deepc1/ Bangarang: DZA (Devant Whitfield) Born and raised in Philly, DZA is one of the city’s solid underground talents bringing all kinds of house music to dance floors across town since 1999. He’s played at many of philly’s nightclubs including KFN, Medusa, The Khyber, Upstairs at Sal’s, Fluid, Transit, Voltage, and Trilogy, just to name a few. He has a keen ear for music, new and old, and his focus is less about whether a song is current and more about whether it resonates with a dance floor full of eager party-goers. DZA occasionally spins as one half of the oft-confused dynamic duo “Who’s Who??” with Tommy Hogunz. DZA joined Bangarang, a Philadelphia-based artist collective, in 2014 and these days has found a true passion in making art and deco for their events. Featured Artist: Jes Gamble Jes Gamble invites viewers on an intimate exploration of human memory and spirit through her interdisciplinary creations. Her artwork explores human experience inviting personal connections by exploring memory and mending through an ethereal journey of the mind and body. Manipulating paint, photography, installation, sculpture, textiles, video, and wearable embodiments, she examines topics including feminism, psychology, organic systems and the internal spirit. Gamble uses photography to sustain site-specific performances that explore the emotional journey from fear to empowerment. Her use of fabric and erratic sewing invoke a history of the female experience while evoking a discomfort and inescapable partnership with the lived experiences of a contemporary woman and their body. "The act of stitching seen both in reality and in my artwork is a representation of mending and marking the experience's of one's soul and physical form. These metaphors speak on many connecting pathways and investigations both visually and philosophically." Gamble growing out of many her own personal life experiences has sought to fight for emotional and social justice rights for women throughout her career. She is currently embarking on a very large women’s social justice project, Silent Strength, where photography, sculpture, video and sound installations will be some of the main components in educating and spurring conversations on how to push forward positively in our communities creating lasting justice for women. Born in 1981 in Memphis, TN., She attended the Pennsylvania State University where she received her BFA in painting and drawing in 2006. She then moved to Philadelphia that same year. In 2009 she attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where she graduated with her Master of Fine Arts, May 2011. Gamble has exhibited her works in a number of prestigious galleries and museums including, The Barnes Foundation and The Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art She has also been the recipient of many grants, scholarships and awards including the Sandra Karlin Award of Excellence. In 2015, her work was selected to represent the Art and Culture section of the PEW Charitable Trusts, State of the City, Philadelphia. Gamble was recently an exhibiting artist at The Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, January to April, 2018.
