Bank Holiday Modern Jive Guest Teacher Workshops (Dave & Aneta)

IDW are proud to present a pair of linked Workshops from Guest Teachers Dave and Aneta - coming from the Mainland to teach you a smoother, connected, slotted style of Modern Jive and add some 'Flash' to your Dance - at the gorgeous Chapel, the Island's most atmospheric Dance Venue! The Workshops are open to ALL Modern Jive Dancers (WHEREVER you learnt or are currently learning your dance), plus experienced dancers from styles like Blues or Tango who aren't afraid to try something new and see what contemporary Modern Jive teachers are doing to raise the profile, standards and reputation of the Dance. There'll also be a short Freestyle giving you the time and opportunity to practise your new skills afterwards (and ask Dave or Aneta for a Dance!), plus those attending the Workshops can also get FREE admission to our Freestyle Dance at the Chapel later the same night.... :) - See: https://www.facebook.com/events/342667483270573/ Arrive at 2.15 for a 2.30 start. As well as an awesome Tea and Cake Break, the afternoon will include: 1) 'Into the Groove' - using SLOTTED Modern Jive! Dave and Aneta introduce the' 'Rules' of the Slot and how to use these rules to create a seamless, smooth approach to linking moves. There'll also be a focus on applying contemporary lead and follow techniques to reduce the 'Push and Pull' syndrome normally associated with traditional Modern Jive. 2) 'Let's Get Dippy!' - adding extra FLASH for Modern Jive! Dave and Aneta will be helping you to think more about the Music, and teach some nice slinky moves together with 'Sit Dips' and general dip technique - no big 'dropping to the floor' type drops, but much nicer, easy-going dips suitable for all Social Dancers. Please note that we will be rotating all partners, but you can book on your own for £22.50, or come as a Leader/Follower Pair for a combined price of £40 - includes FREE admission to the Bank Holiday Boogie (Freestyle Dance at the Chapel from 19.45) the same night! Our Guest Teachers: David met Aneta 5 years ago at a Blues event where they shared common views on dance and they have been partners ever since... They are among our favourite dancers and bring smiles to those they dance with and those that watch wherever they dance with their smooth connection and emphasis on style and fun. David has been dancing for over 15 years (coaching MJ for nearly 10 years) originally starting with Salsa and then Ballroom before getting into Modern Jive and then various forms of Blues dancing from Modern to Traditional - ending up fusing many of these styles into one 'Expressive' form. Their dance style uses many of the MJ moves that you know already. but the emphasis is not on *what* you do, but on *how* you do it!! They introduced Expressive Dance to Vibe Ireland, returning again by special invitation, and ran classes at Jivetime Riot Jive Weekend in Bournemouth last year and are working with BERSERK (https://www.facebook.com/groups/850514355051524/) to promote Blues and Expressive dance in Kent.
