About this Event

Become one of the WLHX teachers and win up to 6 months of free Rhythm Juice access! Submission phase opens on Monday, February 22 at 12:00 CET and closes on Saturday, April 30 at 23:59 CET. As Facebook doesn't allow events longer than 2 weeks, the date of this event will be updated biweekly. :) * * * If you’re a local teacher and you have never been teaching internationally or just an advanced dancer with some cool ideas to share with others… Join the contest! Warsaw Lindy Hop Exchange is much different from all other events we ever participated in. Two years ago we decided not to host regular workshop classes taught by professional international teachers, replacing them with classes taught by talented amateurs or local teachers picked up in the competition. The core idea is to create a REAL EXCHANGE of knowledge and ideas between regular dancers you can meet every Saturday night in your local club. There are so many amazing dancers with so much to share, but without any chance to teach on any international events, as most of the organizers are booking only well known international teachers and dance celebrities. In cooperation with the RhythmJuice – a leading online swing dance learning platform – we invite you to take part in a unique contest in which we’ll pick 3 dancers or couples to teach classes on each of 3 levels during the Warsaw Lindy Hop Exchange 2016. After classes end, students will fill a short survey about class quality. Competing teachers will be rewarded with 6, 3 and 1 month of free Rhythm Juice access (excluding feedback fee). The submission phase starts on Monday, February 22 at 12:00 CET. * * * PHASE ONE – SUBMISSIONS February 22 – April 30 The participant films 1 video covering 3 classes he’d like to teach on WLHX – one lesson for Beginners/Intermediate, one lesson for Intermediate level and one for Advanced level. The video should include a short demonstration and a basic lesson breakdown in English. All additional information (details on methodology, core ideas etc.) can be entered into coresponding fields of the contest registration form. The video should not exceed 5 minutes of length. THE VIDEO SHOULDN’T BE PUBLISHED ANYWHERE ELSE BEFORE OR DURING THE CONTEST! The classes can be but don’t have to be Lindy Hop focused. They can cover anything that helps lindyhoppers improve their dancing either by improving technique, improvisation skills or body awareness, performing dance excercises, they can also be inspired by other swing and non-swing dances if they are somehow related to and usable in swing dancing. All videos will be judged by the organizers and 3 best of them will be qualified to the finals. If less than 3 submissions will meet the Organizers quality standandards, the Organizers have a right to invite to finals teachers of their choice. * * * PHASE TWO – THE EVENT June 9 - June 12 3 teachers/couples will be invited to Warsaw to teach 2 class per level (one class presented in the video and on the second one you can teach anything you would like to share). The accomodation costs are covered by the Organizers. Teachers are not paid for the classes and travel. After the last class students will be asked to fill a short survey and give up to 10 points in each of the following fields: instruction clarity and methodology, class usability concerning social dancing, teacher’s attitude to students, personal score. The class can receive maximum 40 points per student. Only students who participated in the particular class can vote. Students’ scores for both classes will be summarized to give the final score. 3 classes with the highest total score (beginners/intermediate plus intermediate/advanced) will win the rewards. In all the situations not covered by these rules the decision is being made by the Organizers.
