Beginner Contact Improv Dance Class w Cathie Caraker

The contact improvisation dance beginner night takes place once a month at the Santa Monica Contact Improvisation Dance Jam. We start the evening with a 1-hour class/warmup suitable for all levels followed by open jamming. Her performance work and teaching have been presented at festivals, dance institutes and theaters across Europe and the US and she was on the faculty of the Amsterdam School for the Arts (SNDO) for 10 years. She is a teacher of Body-Mind Centering® and holds an MFA in Dance from Bennington College. She has collaborated with artists including Katarina Eriksson, Ray Chung, Nancy Stark Smith, Meredith Monk, David Hurwith, Rosemary Hannon and Henry Kaiser.
