About this Event

22 Nov - 2 Dec 2022 Chiang Dao, Thailand Being Nature Gathering Deep Ecology, Somatics and Dance Improvisation "How can we deepen our connections with ourselves, others and the natural world?" An embodied inquiry into our interdependency, opening our senses to what is present, and making choices based on the larger context of our shared ecologies. Being Nature Gathering invites movement practitioners, deep ecologists, environmentalists, artists, and those who are curious to explore different ways to feel ourselves as part of nature, and with this embodied understanding move towards positive change together. The gathering takes place in Chiang Dao, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The area carries an ancient Buddhistic heritage, including cave temples and forest monastery. The venue is located at the foothills of Doi Luang mountain, next to a gentle river, walking distance from natural hot springs. The 11 day program includes contact improvisation and ecology workshops, artistic laboratories, performances, focused dance jams and film screenings. With opportunities to discover and learn about the local ecosystem through workshops with local ecologists. There will be a scholarship program for Thai citizens and an artistic residency for emerging artists and artists (of all nationalities), working intrinsically with or influenced by nature and the environment. // Information Pack: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fqLIx0b4M_2wLBfHp6M9aq3Oyqh60CJ7/view?usp=drivesdk // Program & Facilitation: Stone & Water: Ecosomatics and Contact Improvisation intensive with Dolores Dewhurst-Marks (UK/THAILAND) Living the Everyday Dance: Embodied Relationships and Improvisation workshop with Christina Dohr (GERMANY) Empty Rituals: Multidisciplinary art laboratory with Sasha Dodo (RUSSIA/THAILAND) Deep Ecology and Contemplative forest walk with P’Auan (THAILAND) Ecology workshop with P’Mon (THAILAND) Vipassana Meditation with Reimar Scholz (GERMANY/SINGAPORE) Somatic Yoga with Julie Frisch (DENMARK) Evening focused dance jams facilitated by Steven LeBlanc (USA/THAILAND) & Improvised music by Viktor Schramek (SLOVAKIA/TAIWAN).
