***CLASS 7:15-8:15pm*** ***JAM 8:15-9:30pm*** -- START TIME -- Class starts promptly at 7:15pm, so please arrive by 7pm to allow time for check-in. -- LOCATION -- Soft Medicine: 186 N Main St. Sebastopol, CA 95472 (upstairs, to the right) -- ENTRANCE FEE -- $20 for the whole night, whether you go to the class and/or jam. -- FINANCIAL ACCESSIBILITY -- A discount of 50% is available for marginalized peoples, such as BIPOC and LGTBQIA+ folx and those who are experiencing financial hardship..... or pay what you can; NOTAFLOF. -- CLASS DESCRIPTION -- Beyond Duets One of the great, unique gifts of Contact Improv is the coherent, creative and collaboratively improvised dance across a room of movement. We’ll explore various approaches to moving together in order to discover what arises when playing with different constellations of bodies and imaginations. Generally, we’ll explore “composition”, “weight sharing + momentum”, “space” and “agility”. -- CLASS FACILITATOR -- Eric Spiegel (he/him) is dedicated to improvisation and collaboration. To foster more of these practices in Sebastopol, Eric offers his energy as a community connector, hosting dancing (Sebastopol Contact Improv, and Pulse Partner Dance) and improvised acapella singing (VocaLab, CircleSing Sebastopol) events regularly. He has been focused on Contact Improv for several years, is just beginning as a teacher, and looks forward to a lifetime of practice and inquiry. -- LIVE MUSICIAN -- Alex Gilman (Aletheia) is an improvisational musician from Sonoma County, CA. Using electric guitar loops, his ambient soundscapes explore timbral textures, harmonic richness, and the hidden complexity in simplicity. His music aims to evoke delight, embodied presence, and the meeting place between bliss and grief. Actually, more skin coverage is better for C.I movements. * Don't wear strong fragrances. * Please remove jewelry (and no belt buckles). -- SPACE ACCESSIBILITY -- The movement space is on the 2nd floor, accessible by the stairs or via an elevator in the back of the building.
