Two days of workshops designed for instructor-level/ experienced dancers in a role-balanced, open gender format. Working with Fernanda and Silvio is for the serious-minded dancer who knows tango is not about the steps. For dancers who want to work on advanced concepts: Saturday, September 13 - 1:00-3:30pm HOW THE DANCE RADIATES FROM THE CENTER: The center of the body, our hips, is the core from where all the energy of movement is born and flows. From there, we radiate energy towards our feet, towards our arms, and towards our partner. By learning to dance from that center, we discover the true language of tango. Sunday, September 14 - 3:00-5:30pm CONNECTION BETWEEN FEET AND THE EMBRACE: In Argentine tango, the feet provide the foundation of stability and balance, and this grounding is communicated through the embrace, completing the connection between the dancers. From the feet, stability and balance are generated, serving as the starting point that leads up through the center of the body, where the body’s functional energy resides. Expect demanding work.
