FREE URBAN KIZ DANCE CLASSES & PARTY (see term below) Come and join us try and learn about Urban Kiz it is a new dance derive from Kizomba.... At our free Urban Kiz evening, you can find out more about the dance and the music from people passionate about the dance. This will give you the best chance to find out what it's like learn and dance urban kiz without commitment. URBAN KIZ DANCE : Urban Kiz, is a dance derived from Kizomba fused with other dance styles. It is danced mostly to non Kizomba music. The music for Urban Kiz is more varied from electronic to classical to pop songs but the main aspect is that there is a varying beat or vocal within the music with which to dance/ play with. Within this group each teacher has their own style which can include elements of tango, hip hop, bachata and even some zouk. Regardless of the style of Urban Kiz, or whether its danced in an open or closed hold; playing with direction and tempo/speed is a key part of this style, mixed in with tricks, blocks and turns. Styling is also key to making the dance your own and there has been some body isolations and body rolls being introduced for the ladies and fancy footwork for the guys. Despite how it might sometimes look, good dancers execute the dance smoothly and accurately making it feel very connected whether it is a slow dance or a fast paced trick and turn filled dance. It requires strong leading and following skills and familiarity and connection to the music to be able to pull all the components together. But when it does come together it is magic. This dance is still new in the uk and whist we have some good dancers here maybe not everyone has had a good experience, but that is just part of the learning curve not the characteristics of the dance. Urban kiz can be enjoyed by all levels but as with all dances its up to individuals how technical they wish their dance to be so don't be put off by some of the dancers out there throwing down some creative moves they have simply been dancing this dance longer. Sonny : SONNY (assisting ) She is the current UK Kizomba Champion, and 3 rd World Kizomba Champions at Africadancar 2015 international Kizomba competition with her dancer partner Jey. ��������������� Sonny is a Kizomba teacher, dancer & performer. French born originally from Cape Verde, grew up dancing Passada, Funana, Kuduro, Mazurka, Coupe Decale and Ndombolo. She has been dancing Kizomba for 7 years and teaching for 5 years. Kizomba is one of the most popular genres of dance and music originating in Angola. Her reasons for teaching Kizomba include “ the passion of the dance, the feeling, the connection, the emotion and how that brings people together in a fun filled environment” Her philosophy about Kizomba : "Kizomba is like having a conversation with two connected bodies,he communicates the movements, she listens and replies" She has discovered Urban Kiz over 3 years ago, She loves any type of dances that allow an artist to grow and be creative. Urban Kiz has a different sytle and allow creativity to flow. She has been helping/assistant French teachers coming to the UK for over the last 6 months. ���������������� Sonny is also director of SVPromotions an event company, that brings to you (Kizomba, Semba, Urban Kiz, Afro beats and more) events, parties, classes, workshop with international & UK artists. www.svpromotions.co.uk Chaley : Chaley is from Congo and live in France Nancy. He has discovered Kizomba in Brazzaville where he fell in love with the dance. After working on his dancing and improve he joined the team with Dim Urban Kiz teacher that trained him, then taught along side him over a year. Curtis was one of his major Inspiration as well as Dim his trainer. Marion ( assisting ) : Marion is from Nancy France and started dancing when discovered Salsa few year back. When she thinks of dancing it makes her feel good and think of energy between people. Dancing allow us to feel free and to express ourselves. She loves musicality and understand the rythm and still feel connected with your partenaire. its amazing feeling!!! I came across Kizomba after taking few Tango classes, I think its a beautiful dance with strong connexion and i loved it and follow that i came across Urban Kiz which i like too cause its different and has more of hip hop style depending on the style and more freedoom. Trudy : Trudy started Kizomba at Bird Hill end of 2013 but within a few months discovered the French style of Kizomba and was hooked by the music and the creativity of the moves which were based on fusions from other dance styles. This style is now called Urban Kiz and each teacher has their own flavour and style. She travelled to congresses to take classes with so many different teachers including Enha, Moun, Curtis, Tony Pirata and Sophie, Fred Maestro, Ken Golitin Secret Team and Master Classes with Felicien and Isabelle, Albir and Carola, Morenasso and Anais, Kaem and Marine. As well as learning to follow, she also learnt different teaching techniques for teaching moves,musicality and creativity in the dance. Last year she started leading and having experience as a follower helped make the switch easier, she has learnt a lot of moves over the years and knows how they feel. She now want to share this and her passion for the dance with others. Urban Kiz like Kizomba is a very connected dance and sometimes the technical skills required are not very visible when watching dancers but its there creating the smooth feeling and connection. “I love Urban Kiz because of its playfulness with tempo, dancing the moves and blocking in a way to hit the accents in the music and when it all works it feels like heaven.” {{{{{{{{{{{{{CLASSES}}}}}}}}} Door opens at 7.30 pm to warm up with few dances before the classes starts :-) Classes starts at 8 pm 1 - Absolute Beginners : Trudy No background of dancing / or no Kizomba 2 - Beginners : Chaley & Marion Minimum 3/4 months of Kizomba or 1/2 months Urban Kiz absolute beginners 3 - Improvers : Moussa & Sonny Over 8 months of Kizomba - or over 6 months beginners Urban Kiz.
