The constraint of the blindfold invites dancer to explore other senses to find connection, expression, pleasure, and safety. These workshops take participants on a journey of somatic self-discovery and non-verbal consent via solo and group exercises before culminating in a freeform blindfolded jam. We will open with a short circle addressing boundaries and safety. Please arrive between 6:30-7. This is closed container. Late arrivals will not be admitted and will not receive a refund. Otherwise we will have some available. LIVE MUSIC: Cassian (fka Jason Gorelick) is an Oakland-based musician and sound artist. His work is highly improvisational with classical, jazz, rock, and experimental roots. He creates acoustic-electric performances, creating lush textural soundscapes that blend violin and vocals with live looping and audio processing effects. Ten steps lead up to the main entrance doors, which open into a small foyer with ticket and coat room. Wide double doors lead into the auditorium. Auditorium is currently not ADA/Wheelchair Accessible. Accessible hand rails are available via the small stoop. Finnish Hall is currently raising funds to make this historic buidlding wheelchair accessible for future events. Pre-sale ticket refunds - minus the Eventbrite fee - available until 7 days before event. After that you are responsible for finding someone to buy your ticket. CANDICE HOLDORF Candice is a writer and coach with a focus on reclaiming erotic embodiment through exploring shame and shadow. She brings her passion for movement, play, and creative self-expression to her work as a group facilitator. She has trained in various healing modalities such as yoga and orgasmic meditation as well as studied Alexander Technique and theatrical movement while getting her BFA at NYU. www.theorgasmiclife.com GABRIEL DIAMOND Gabriel is a long-time contact dancer and has practiced several modalities of conscious dance. He has developed a passion for incorporating blindfold contact into ecstatic dance. His work as an artist explores the intersection of activism, street theatre, shadow work, and embodiment. He is the co-founder of Vulnerable Rally. He is a filmmaker by trade (outsidefilms.com) with a background in theatre.
