BODY WORLDS
Experiential anatomy & dance improvisation workshop
26 - 30th July 2021
at THE SOURCE
Body Worlds is a 5 day workshop about experiential anatomy in poetic connection with the natural world, explored through solo movement and Contact Improvisation.
We will investigate the structures, functions and inherent qualities of the following systems: Bones, Muscle, Fascia, Skin, and Nervous.
Together we will process the embodiment of images and characteristics of each specific system. Incorporating touch - hands on partner work, visualisation, your own movement investigation, and the practice of improvisation.
Each system manifests its own structure, logic of movement and qualities. Part of our process will be to focus on improvisation within each system, the interplay between them and bringing them all together, integrating their diversity into the very moment of our action and interaction.
We will look at how these systems relate to each other within our body and to other bodies. Practicing to deepen our understanding of each other and discover new ways of efficiently relating in the context of a constantly changing reality of dance improvisation. Reflecting life itself.
During sessions in nature we will contemplate how these systems correspond with the world around us. On location we can explore, perform, and witness the interrelation between inner and outer worlds. These sessions are optional.
In each session we will deepen our embodied understanding of each system through guided explorations, frames for improvising, witnessing, sharing, and open space for integration. You are welcome to bring materials for drawing, writing, painting during the session.

ABOUT DOLORES:
Independent artist engaged in poetry, dance improvisation, water dance, performance and film, teacher of Contact Improvisation and Somatics. Involved in the organization of alternative environments for educational research and production of art; residencies, festivals, retreats, workshops, films and performance projects in Europe and Asia.
Dolores' movement research focuses on developing awareness for the inner landscapes of the body in relation with others and the natural world. How embodiment can provide easeful ways of moving and communicating in improvisation.
In teaching, she is curious to shape spaces where knowledge can unfold in a mutual stream of creation, beyond the usual format of student - teacher relationship. Providing an environment for the investigation of body intelligence in relation to spatial awareness and the imagination.
The approach for this workshop is inspired by Body-Mind Centering. BMC is an integrated and embodied approach to movement, the body and consciousness. Developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.
