Boo-galoo Workshop with Betto at Sunday Social

Boogaloo Baby !! That mix of Cha Cha and Soul that rocked Spanish Harlem in the years between the Mambo Era and Fania., Note I wrote it as Boog aloo b/c for some crazy reason FB rejects Boogaloo in Title. Workshop this Sunday with Betto Herrera, in Studio 5 next door to the Sunday Social. We will still have our basic Salsa lesson in the big studio for those not doing the workshop with the usual social prices and times are the same for those not doing the workshop For those doing the workshop there is one price for the workshop and following social which goes to 9:30 P $20, $18 for students and military with ID. PrePay is closed. Those just attending the social will be the same as ever. Any Latin dancer in the years between the end of the Mambo Era and the beginning of Fania would be out dancing to that funky combination of Cha Cha and soul music called Latin Boogaloo. It gained popularity with Joe Cuba, Richie Ray, Joe Bataan, Pete Rodriguez, and even Tito Puente and Ray Baretto were composing Boogaloos. It can be used as a shines break in a Cha Cha, solo or partner, and Betto will bring you the funk, and show you how to do it. The workshop will precede the Salsa Social, this week with DJ Abuelo Salsero. We will still be doing our beginning lesson for those interested at 6:30.
