LA CLAVE FEST 2019 La Clave Fest – London’s biggest free Latin Festival – is back for its 4th year on Saturday 3rd August, this time taking over one of London’s major green spaces, Finsbury Park, which traverses the boroughs of Haringey, Islington and Hackney. La Clave Fest, named after the founding beat of afro-latin music, celebrates London’s vibrant Latin culture by showcasing the very best of UK-based Latin and Spanish music and dance, including that of the city’s new home-grown bi-cultural generation. The festival prides itself on the breadth and depth of its Latin entertainment – from Salsa, Samba and the tropical beats of the Latin Caribbean to Tango, Flamenco and Urban Latin sounds making the global hits of today. Many of the performers have been voted the best in their genre by the public and expert judges in The LUKAS, Europe’s Latin Entertainment Awards. Headlining this year is the incredible Rene Alvarez and his Cuban Combination, a 16-piece outfit, one of Europe’s most explosive salsa bands, voted LUKAS Tropical Act 2018. Representing Colombia will be the extremely popular Angelica Lopez y su Papayera considered one of Europe’s most unique Colombian Folk acts, led by the talented Cartagena-born singer and The LUKAS’s first female Vocalist of the Year. Also from Colombia is Nazari Sound, formed by three brothers, Ces, Juán & Nené Nazari, who fuse Jazz, Blues, Funk, Colombian Folk, Salsa and R&B. La Raza: London's Urban Latin Showcase will return with this year’s batch of Latin talent fresh out of London’s boroughs; Camden’s Desta French, who accumulated over 1 million plays on Spotify with her debut single 'Shame', Tottenham boy Guala, whose first ever grime song in Spanish ‘You’re not there,’ recently featured on BBC1 Xtra and Valenciz, West London’s very own Reggaeton veteran. Music starts smoothly at 1pm with the divine voices of hugely talented troubadors Beto Caletti and Mishka Adams who bring us Candombe-infused Jazz and the much loved UK-Brazilian artist Nina Miranda whose Bossa Nova, Trip hop, Folk has earned her collaborations with the likes of Nitin Sawhney, Bebel Gilberto, Baaba Maal, Arto Lindsay and Seu Jorge. We’ll be featuring a full tango orchestra for the first time in the form of London Tango Orchestra - a real "orquesta tipica" uniting leading UK and Argentine tango musicians. Flamenco will be in the house, with rising star Abraham Carmona who brings a distinctive expression to his inherited family Flamenco tradition by fusing traditional palo rhythms, acoustic flamenco guitar, voice and percussion with fretless bass, electric guitar, keyboards and loop station. You’ll be wowed by the dance shows from the UK’s best Latin dancers: Salsa from Kat and Eddie, London School of Samba’s troupe of Brazilian drummers and sambistas and the up and coming Latin dance group Los Rumberos. With the crowd inevitably be itching to dance, we’re bringing back the amazing Latin Fun Machine, whose easy-to-follow routines ensured last year’s non-stop fiesta. providing the sounds will be DJ FERNANDO KBSON and DJ GAMBA, with more DJs to be announced.
