★ Join us for a fulfilling night of community, connection and dance! Our artist of the week is David Satori and dance lab facilitator (Intro to Circus & Acro) is Danimal Bridge. This special B.E.D. Dance will be at the Boulder Circus Center ★ Rhythm of the Dance 6:15 - 6:30: Arrive and land in the space for Dance Lab 6:30 - 7:15: Dance Lab Our intention for the Dance Lab is to co-create a core resonance of what is possible when we dance together in a more intentional, alive and collective way. We believe this is the foundation for creating a dance that so many of us are craving!!! Dance Lab can look like dance games, contact improvisation, connection games, etc. It is a place where we get to feel an invitation to bring more play, exploration, and attunement to our experience in dance space. Dance Lab primes us for a free-form, permission-filled ecstatic dance that invites us to tap into a more liberated expression of ourselves. [Accessible for all levels / No experience needed] 7:15 - 7:25: Dance Lab Debrief/ Opening Circle 7:25 - 9:15: Ecstatic Dance This is the main course of the night where our artist will take us on a soundscape journey into movement as a community. 9:15 - 9:30: Closing This is a space for individuals to share, express and be seen by the community and is the closing chapter of the evening. *** Note: You are not required to participate in any part of this which does not feel alive for you. You have full permission to sit/rest/observe at any time of the evening. There is an altar space for pulling cards and meditation. There is also a squish zone for relaxing and cuddles. These spaces are still a part of the non-verbal dance space. You are free to arrive and leave when you wish. If the dance is at capacity, we must turn dancers away. Born in Burlington VT, David was inspired by the rich local music scene and started playing guitar and drums at the age of 13. David produced his first original album with his band Bubble Tribe in 1997 as a senior in high school and went on to study music at CalArts in Los Angeles, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Composition and Performance in 2001. After college David bought an aging airport shuttle bus, converted it to run on vegetable oil and toured the US with his bands The Funnies, a four piece space funk band, and Aphrodesia, a female fronted futuristic Afrobeat big band from San Francisco. David also co-founded and produced events with The Sustainable Living Roadshow, a traveling eco festival. In 2006 David helped organize a month long West African Tour with Aphrodesia and the African Showboyz from Ghana, which culminated in twonights at the legendary Shrine in Lagos, Nigeria, the musical home of Femi Kuti, son of Fela Kuti. After returning from West Africa David committed torecording with Beats Antique, a trio born in the San Francisco performance underground, Burning Man and West Coast Bass music scenes. Beats Antique soon became an international touring production and has released over 10 albums in 12 years, all written and produced by the band. On a parallel track toBeats Antique David pursued a recording project with his long-time bandmate and friend Evan Fraser, which evolved into Dirtwire, now a trio with the addition of Mark Revely, that tours internationally and has released 9 albums. Recently David has been inspired to spread his knowledge of the music business and production to people eager to learn through workshops known as“David Satori’s Musical Adventures”. David employs a unique format, taking people on a journey through his creative process using the Ableton Live softwareto compose music. The workshops are interactive and inclusive and encourage participation in the creation of an original piece of music. The session recording and Ableton file is then shared with the participants for them to remix or adapt for future releases. David is also involved with a nonprofit organization in Asheville NC, which is part of LEAF International,called “One Mic”. This project builds micro recording studios in under-resourced places around the world One Mic’s goal is to uplift youth in all parts of the world by giving them a voice and helping to amplify their message through the art of recording and production. David Satori feels strongly that music is a healing medicine, that those who wish to become more musical should do so and that by doing so they will spread the healing vibrations. She holds an M.F.A. in Dance and Performance from the University of Colorado, Boulder where she received her secondary emphasis in Somatics for her studies in the Alexander Technique, the Feldenkrais method, and BodyMind Centering. After growing up studying West African Guinean dance, Flamenco, and Middle Eastern dance, she attended Mills College in Oakland where she studied dance as an undergrad. Leah enjoyed an extensive performance career for over 11 years in the SF Bay Area where she performed, and taught fitness & yoga professionally. She is an enthusiastic student of Tom Weksler who combines Contemporary dance, Acrobatics, Martial Arts, and Contact Improvisation, as well as a member of Ido Portal's movement culture movement. She is passionate about health, wellness, and longevity and draws from her extensive movement background in Pilates, GYROTONIC®️, Yoga, strength training, and dance in her classes. She is a certified GYROKINESIS®️ Pre-trainer & GYROTONIC®️ trainer, with a certificate in the Jump Stretch Board, Gyrotoner, and Archway Specialized equipment, as well as an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, and a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility coach. If it’s not a clear yes, it’s a no. - Free of phones and cameras in the dance space. In other areas, keep them off or in airplane mode. - Free of heavy perfumes or oils. You will receive $50 plus 1 free dance admittance for the future. - We need 2 additional volunteers as support. One person will help from 6:00 - 7:30 pm and the other will help from 7:30 - 9pm. - We need 1 floater volunteer to be flexible to take on one of the other volunteer roles in the event that someone becomes sick on the night of the event. ★ Skill Offerers - Tribal markers/body painting - Massage (bring your own table/chair) - Art Vendor - Serve Tea / Cacao / Elixirs - open to other creative ideas * Note, permission to charge for offerings.
