Brazilian Maracatu Drumming

Join members of Baque de Ogum for a fun day of Brazilian Maracatu drumming. Our sessions are suitable for both beginners and more experienced musicians who are keen to come along for a mass jam and learn more about this beautiful roots music and dance. Maracatu has its roots in the slave estates of Pernambuco state, where black African slaves formed religious brotherhoods to preserve African culture and heritage.
