Join native Brazilian dancer/performer Luciana da Silva for an extraordinary Samba workshop. Luciana will take you in a journey of exploration and understanding of this fascinating dance. We will have an introduction of Samba done in a circle exploring its roots and then travel into history to the glamour of Samba Rio de Janeiro style. This class is open for all levels of dancers and preferably for those with little or no experience looking for a new way of moving the body or just trying get more knowledge of Brazilian dance and culture. Created over a solid technique you will be dancing 2 dance styles both done in bare foot feeling the support of mother earth beneath you, receiving the energy of the roots as well as growth. She has been teaching Brazilian dance in the U.S. for over a decade and is the producer of an annual show in Colorado called Viva Brasil! Luciana has a deep understanding of various Brazilian dance genres and related music styles through her continuous training with some of the best prestigious master dance teachers in Brazil. She also regularly attends the carnival in Brazil to stay up‐to‐date on the latest trends found among the best samba schools in Rio and the traditions of of the other dances from Northeast Brazil As Luciana has been an important representative of Brazilian culture in Colorado not only as a dancer but presenting the best teachers and performers from Brazil to the community, training other dancers or helping them to achieve an understanding of Brazilian culture.
