On May 3rd we will be spinning Brazil’s biggest dance-floor fillers - from the sizzling samba of Seu Jorge to the formidable funk of Sandra de Sá - at HiFi. We are thrilled to have two of the most exciting names in Latin, Afro and Jazz music DJing alongside us: Tim Garcia is a presenter on Jazz FM and the founder of online global music platform, Música Macondo. With Música Macondo, he regularly puts on events at The Jazz Café, hosting huge artists such as the Afro-Brazilian band, Bixiga 70 and Arabic-Jazz trumpeter, Yazz Ahmed. As a saxophonist she has spent the last couple years perfecting her own innovative and energetic brand of afro- and caribbean-influenced jazz - one that has earned her global accolades and and huge features in the national press. She is also a member of the phenomenal collectives, Nérija and Maisha. Besides taking the jazz world by storm, Nubya DJs and hosts radio shows on NTS and Balami Radio and has previously had shows on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM.
