Brazilian Zouk Dance Workshop

Come learn Brazilian Zouk! Never heard of it? That’s ok, there are videos below. Check them out to see if this workshop is for you. I like to call it my “yoga dance” because it is a beautifully mindful dance. In two hours we will try to cover the basic step, viradinha, lateral, and lunge and simple turn, with extra details added about connection and the history/culture of the dance. This class is a BEGINNERS class for Zouk so all are welcome. Where: St. Peter at The Pulse Fitness Studio. Time: 1:00-3:00pm Cost: $35 per person/ Students $25 with ID Please Register we need 10 people to make it happen Private lessons are available same day ($60-110) but need to call to reserve time. If you have any questions please contact Jessica 507-380-5085 (text or call) Email [email protected] Instructors Bio: Ethan Brotzman started dancing in 2012 with salsa and ballroom after learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo during college. Ethan saw Brazilian Zouk for the first time at a bachata congress and was instantly addicted, resolving to travel and learn as much as possible and build a thriving Zouk scene in Minneapolis. Katie Menk discovered her love of movement when she started figure skating at 6 years old. In 2009 she began partner dancing by competing in ballroom dance at the University of Minnesota, but eventually made her way into the social dance world. Katie enthusiastically pursued learning in all styles of salsa and bachata, and taught salsa for four years. She was introduced to Brazilian Zouk by her partner Ethan in 2016 and fell in love completely with the dance. Ethan and Katie are the co-choreographers, with Judy Sykora, of the Zoufda performance team. Ethan and Katie have traveled to over 30 Zouk festivals on four continents to learn from the best professionals and improve their dancing and teaching. Both Ethan and Katie currently compete in the Intermediate division (the highest division available in the USA) of the Brazilian Zouk Dance Council Jack and Jill. Ethan and Katie began teaching progressive Zouk classes in June 2017 and continue to try to help build the Minneapolis Zouk community in every way they can.
