We PRIDE OURSELVES on being one of the most INCLUSIVE and FRIENDLIEST dance communities; open to all ages and abilities.
🌟WHY BRAZILIAN ZOUK?
The reason WE LOVE Brazilian Zouk so much is due to its wide range of interpretations; From NEO-ZOUK to HIP-HOP ZOUK, LAMBAZOUK to RIO- ZOUK, CONTEMPORARY-ZOUK to ZEN-ZOUK. No matter what your style of dance, or music genre preference, the BEAUTY of BRAZILIAN ZOUK is that you can interpret the music how YOU WANT!
🌟FREEDOM FOR FOLLOWERS - HURRAAHHH!!!
Within Brazilian Zouk, there is a SHARED MINDSET that Zouk is a DIALOGUE between you and your partner. ‘WHAT DOES THIS MEAN IN PRACTICE’??? I hear you say… Well, it means NO MORE UNCOMFORTABLE or even dangerous MOVES, or being forced into movements which you may not feel confident to execute at that moment.
In Brazilian Zouk, it is understood that movements are SUGGESTED (by both leader and follower) not forced. Followers are also open to CREATE within this shared mindset with the understanding that leaders will adapt to the continual formation of the movement. EACH DANCE IS A UNIQUE CREATION!

💃BETTS CORRIGAN
Betts Corrigan, a trained dancer in ballet, modern ballet, and jazz, began dancing Brazilian Zouk in 2015 after many years of dancing Cuban, LA, and Cross Body Salsa. Betts endeavors to offer both followers and leaders alike, good, solid fundamental dance techniques, informed by her many years of training in classical ballet and these other genres. New to teaching Brazilian Zouk, she believes understanding these core techniques of alignment, contraction, and release, use of breath, centering, gravity and opposition is central to all dances and will take your dance to the next level. Betts is also adamant that followers should no longer be just a prop for the lead in the dance class, but rather, be fully guided, encouraged, and given confidence to really explore styling varieties to really develop these core principles in order to make their dance look and feel better.
