Nathalia Carbajal Bio: Nathalia Carbajal was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and grew up following the footsteps of her family’s passion for dance. Since her early childhood, she has shown interest in dance, attending Ballet and Jazz lessons from the age of 4. As a teenager, she began partner dance training, where she learned different styles of Brazilian ballroom dance, such as Samba de Gafieira, Forró, and Samba Rock. Additionally, she trained hip hop and Axé, a folkloric dance from Brazil. In 2006 she began to study Law but always kept her dance training as part of her life. During college, she attended a performance arts group for 2 years and performed at festivals and events. In 2008 she discovered Zouk, and it was love at first sight. She began a total and complete immersion in Zouk, studying all the different styles and training with different renowned artists in São Paulo city, such as Bruno Galhardo, Ricardo Ferrari, Rubia Frutuoso and Renato Veronesi. After her move to the United States in 2013, she began her training with Ivo Vieria & Shani Mayer in Los Angeles. She relocated to Portland in 2014, where she founded the Zouk PDX scene, bringing her passion and love to the community. Nathalia hosted a bi-monthly Zouk night named KiZouk Connection, taught twice a week and ran 2 large Zouk Training Teams. Starting from zero, Nathalia grew an united and talent Brazilian Zouk community in Portland. While in Portland, she co-founded Zouk PDX Productions, which brings major Zouk artists from around the world to Portland, as well as LambaFest, the first Lambada focused Zouk Festival in the US. Back in LA since 2019, she founded Lamba-N-Zouk Connection, focusing to grow Lambada and Brazilian Zouk in California. Nathalia says that “Zouk is the air I breath” and wishes to keep spreading her passion for Lambada and Brazilian Zouk in the US, by teaching and organizing events to help unite the community. Nathalia frequently travels back to Brazil and attends Zouk Festivals for training and growth as a dancer and instructor.
