--- UPDATED 24/03/2020 --- --- EVENT CANCELLED --- --- EFFECTIVE AS AT 24/03/2020 --- Sunny and Heidi regretfully advise that given the current Government imposed restrictions (social distancing policies), flight cancellations (airlines are cancelling flights), and also our personal concern for the safety and well being of our Sydney Zouk community, we have no choice but to cancel this event. :( We hope the COVID-19 situation and social limitations come to an end soon. Our hope is that this is simply a postponement, rather than a cancellation. Let's see what happens towards the 2nd half of the year! China SoulZouk - SoulZouk Creator 17 - 19 April 2020 Sunny Wo & Heidi Anastasia of the Sydney Zouk Community are so excited to bring Claudio China SoulZouk to Sydney to share his unique Brazilian Zouk knowledge and concepts with us! - China began his dance career at Jaime Aroxa's dance academy in 1994, at 16 years old. He started in Samba de Gafieira, going through several dance styles until he settled in Zouk dance. - Through ten years he developed a particular dancing manner and, after winning the trophy 'years best' in the Zouk category in Rio de Janeiro in 2004, China started to teach the dance in 2005 until now. - He went as teacher and guest in dozens congress and workshops in Brazil and all over the world and along with his best students he still improve the SoulZouk’s methodology and techniques - SoulZouk was created in 2003 after I, China, got upset every time I went to Zouk's party and people said I didn't dance Zouk, so I ended up giving the name to the way I danced at the time of SoulZouk. SoulZouk was the first style of the new generation, after it came the new styles like Neo, Flow, Revolution, Black, among others. - SoulZouk was created exclusively within dance floors, but the development of teaching, understanding and body comprehension techniques was studied and developed in partnership with Luciana Guinle who helped to spread and solidify SoulZouk within the dance world. - In this trajectory we can also mention K-yo, Jack and Monique who also brought their tools and creativity to further improve and develop SoulZouk guidelines and concepts, which is to make the dance more comfortable and pleasurable for the couple. The definition of all this is SoulZouk - concern that any and all movements are comfortable, precise, smooth and mostly safe. - SoulZouk was the first style to adopt the stagnant basics of using the body to conduct body roll, head movements, body movements in a connected way between all movements using body driving such as hip hop movements. - The big difference with SoulZouk is how to understand how to isolate every part of your body, also with concern for how each movement can be performed so that it never causes pain or bruise, that it is performed more comfortably, accurately and safely.
